Most of the album grew from Trevor Rabin's demos. Horn arrived as a possible singer and ended up producing, and the sessions cost about 300,000 pounds, half paid by Phil Carson and the rest covered by Ahmet Ertegun. The title is the Atco catalogue number, changed from 90124. It reached five in the US and went triple platinum there, and the instrumental Cinema won a Grammy. AllMusic's Paul Collins called it a stunning self-reinvention, and Horn later said he would struggle to name anything better he had worked on.
