First planned as a double of studio and live material, it was cut back for lack of time. With new keyboards to pay for, the band saved studio hours by making four tracks as a group and giving each member one solo piece. Dean's sleeve showed a fractured planet and a wooden spacecraft, with a booklet giving each member a page. It reached four in the US and seven in Britain and went double platinum in America. Rolling Stone placed it tenth among the greatest prog albums in 2015, and Jim DeRogatis called it the prog record FM radio loved most.
