Jansch was a regular at the 12 Bar Club on Denmark Street from 1995. His manager Alan King recorded one of his sets there straight to digital audio tape, and it came out in 1996 as Live at the 12 Bar: an official bootleg.
Earth Recordings reissued it in 2015 at the start of a Jansch reissue series. Robin Denselow of The Guardian called it an excellent 1995 set from his year-long Wednesday-night solo residency, with songs from the new When the Circus Comes to Town, folk songs from Ireland, America and England, a magnificent Blackwaterside, and the 1960s Strolling Down the Highway. Grayson Haver Currin of Pitchfork said Jansch lets the imperfections stand, forgetting titles and fluffing notes.
