Bazooka Joe profiles a shell-shocked veteran who becomes a contract killer, one of several Atomizer songs about sociopaths committing evil acts. The liner notes say that part of the drum track is an M1 carbine being fired in a field exercise by a guy named Joe, a detail Trouser Press reproduced in its entry on the band.
Trouser Press listed it among the angry slices of depravity and arson that make Atomizer a magnificently rugged record.
