The Model is a cover of Kraftwerk, and the album version is a remix of the one that had appeared on the band's then-recent single. Trouser Press said an excellent and ironic guitar take on it provides the only relief on the record. Decibel described it as a brooding cover that follows the album's opening track.
The Model is second on side one, the half of the album that Albini later called their best work.
