Racer X is the mysterious masked character in the Speed Racer series, and the title track makes numerous references to the original television show. Trouser Press said the EP included a tribute to Speed Racer's cooler brother. Big Black played the song at their 2006 reunion at the Touch and Go anniversary festival.
The Japandroids covered it for Daytrotter on 15 December 2009, saying they planned to record it as the B-side of a 7-inch and that the original is a masterpiece.
