Through the Window of a Train

The title track of their 2008 album: a man remembering rides on the train with his father, named IBMA song of the year for 2008.
Blue Highway, from Through the Window of a Train (2008)

Stafford says he wrote it with Steve Gulley (Glide credits Stafford alone). He described the idea as a fellow remembering his youth and what it was like to travel on that train with his dad, and Glide describes the narrator as a railroad brakeman's son recalling childhood rides. He told Bluegrass Today that the melody and feel were influenced by the Country Gentlemen of the 1970s, one of the most influential bands for him.

It won the IBMA's song of the year award in 2008. Setlist.fm lists 53 Blue Highway setlists, with "Born with a Hammer in My Hand", "Some Day" and "Wondrous Love" the most played at four each; this song is not among the top five. No covers, samples, video or recording dates were found, and it is assumed, not confirmed, that our upload is the album recording.
