Buck Owens and his Buckaroos became the second country band to play Carnegie Hall. The Library of Congress says Owens had feared that New Yorkers would dislike his music, but the show sold out. Its essay calls the versions of Act Naturally and Love's Gonna Live Here "rollicking" and says Tom Brumley's steel added soulful accents to In the Palm of Your Hand and Cryin' Time. It also says the audience gave a standing ovation. Owens later said the band was so tight that no mistakes needed fixing afterwards.

The album was reissued on CD by Sundazed in 2000 and was selected for the National Recording Registry in 2013. AllMusic's Stephen Thomas Erlewine wrote that the group sounded like dynamite, and that what comes through is how musical and gifted the Buckaroos were, particularly Don Rich.
