The first album on Touch and Go, and the studio debut of Teresa Nervosa.
Butthole Surfers, 1984

- December 1984

- Butthole Surfers
The band was not under contract to any label when it made this record. They offered it to Alternative Tentacles, which could not afford to put it out, and doubts over royalties from the earlier releases helped push it to Touch and Go in America and Fundamental Records in Britain. It was first pressed on clear vinyl. Leary said it was recorded in a very substandard studio and that he and Haynes were living in a tool shed at the time. It was Nervosa's studio debut and the last studio release with bassist Bill Jolly.
John Doran of The Quietus wrote in 2024 that "beyond a ramshackle hardcore punk chassis with gonzo vocalisations there are more unusual influences at play," and Matador reissued the record that year.
