Sucker is Charli's second studio album, released by Asylum and Atlantic on 15 December 2014. She told DIY she wrote the record for girls and wanted them to feel a sense of empowerment, and told Idolator it was influenced by the Hives, Weezer, the Ramones and 1960s yé-yé music. She worked on it with Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, Rostam Batmanglij, Stargate and John Hill, among others. Its singles were "Boom Clap", "Break the Rules", "Doing It" with Rita Ora, and "Famous". She wrote "Body of My Own" as a feminist statement.

The album was first set for October 2014 and was pushed back because of the success of Boom Clap. It debuted at number 28 on the Billboard 200, the first of her albums to enter that chart, and at number 15 in the UK with 5,622 copies in its first week. Metacritic averaged 75.

Rolling Stone named it the best pop album of 2014, calling it a middle-finger-waving teenage riot packed into 13 punky gems. In a 2024 Billboard cover story Charli called it an attempt at what Olivia Rodrigo's Sour was able to do much better.
