Wuthering Heights is the soundtrack to the 2026 film of the same name and Charli's seventh studio album. It came out on Atlantic on 13 February 2026, the day the film opened. The film's writer and director, Emerald Fennell, approached her in December 2024 for a single song. After reading the screenplay, Charli wrote several tracks with Finn Keane and proposed a full companion album. She and Keane recorded in rented studio spaces through 2025 while she was on the Brat Tour.
She described the sound as an elegant and brutal palette that could not be more different from Brat, and wanted it to feel raw, wild, sexual, gothic and British. The phrase came from a remark by John Cale in Todd Haynes's 2021 documentary The Velvet Underground. Cale recorded the spoken-word poem on the opening track, House. Charli also tweeted that the record is "100% a sister of True Romance".
The singles were "House" on 10 November 2025, "Chains of Love" on 13 November, "Wall of Sound" on 16 January 2026 and "Always Everywhere" on release day. Strings carry much of the album. Pitchfork's Harry Tafoya wrote that "Funny Mouth" sounds far more like a lost Vulnicura cut than anything on Brat, and described the beatless "Wall of Sound" as a meeting of her melody and a groaning expanse of strings. The Guardian's Alexis Petridis wrote that "Dying for You" marries the dynamics of a rave breakdown to occasionally atonal strings, and that the album works independently of the film.
Metacritic scored it 82. It reached number one on the UK Albums Chart dated 20 February 2026 with 21,071 units, her third UK number one, and debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200 with 51,000 units. It also topped the US Soundtrack Albums chart.
