Stripped

It was among the last songs recorded for Stripped. She asked Rockwilder, who had worked with her on Lady Marmalade, to make something like Redman's 2001 song Let's Get Dirty (I Can't Get in da Club), and Redman raps on the result. She meant the misspelled title to personalize the song. RCA wanted Beautiful to lead the album, but she insisted on this one, which went to radio on 3 September 2002.

David LaChapelle's video was filmed in Los Angeles on 8 to 10 September 2002 in an abandoned newspaper print building. It was banned on Thai television after protests over posters in the video. Aguilera told Blender that she likes to shock and that in the video she is in the power position. The song peaked at 48 in the United States and reached number one in Britain and Ireland. It earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals. Billboard ranked it number 22 on its list of the best songs of 2002, calling it a blueprint to reinvention in the pop game. She followed it with Still Dirrty on Back to Basics.

Live

It opened her 2003 tours. She performed it at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Barcelona in November 2002, and in August 2003 she played it with Fighter, Redman and guitarist Dave Navarro at the MTV Video Music Awards.
