Forever Dolphin Love was self-released in 2010 as Please Turn Me into the Snat, with New Zealand distribution by Rhythmethod, and reissued in 2011 on Phantasy and Because Music with a bonus live disc recorded in a London apartment. According to AudioCulture a cover misunderstanding, a brown-faded image of his face, led to the repackaging under the new name. It reached number 39 in New Zealand and 164 in France, and was shortlisted for the 2011 Taite Music Prize by Wikipedia's account.
It was recorded at his parents' home in Te Awanga. Mockasin has said it was never meant to be released, that it was just him being silly, and that his mum forced him to do it; he told The Quietus's John Freeman in 2014 that his mother encouraged him to record at home, where the family had tape machines, because he had believed he needed a producer, a proper studio and engineers. God Is In The TV's Rhian Daly gave it five out of five in 2011, calling it a porthole into the mind of Mockasin, and noted that the title track shifts through several different versions in its opening minutes. Wikipedia quotes critics calling it fluid, meandering and blissful, seemingly effortless and mesmerizing. A 10th anniversary splatter vinyl was issued by Phantasy and Because.
