Released in June 1996 as the band announced it was splitting, it collects four songs from each of the four studio albums and adds Not the Girl You Think You Are, Instinct and Everything Is Good for You. Those three were recorded at York Street Studios in Auckland, produced by Finn, Froom and Tchad Blake, with Hester returning to play. The sleeve credits Finn, Seymour and Hart with Paul Hester. Finn said that Instinct was about an instinctive decision to stop working with the band. Seymour painted the cover. At the 1997 ARIA Awards it won Highest Selling Album.
A two-disc edition added a Special Edition Live Album chosen by the Split Enz bassist Nigel Griggs. The title was already the name of a song the band wrote in 1985 as The Mullanes, which turned up on the rarities collection Afterglow in 1999.
