Hannibal Records released the album in 1986 as a collection of 16 songs by Kurt Weill and Hanns Eisler to lyrics by Bertolt Brecht, sung in English. The same songs in German were issued together as Angebot und Nachfrage. The English side includes Supply and Demand (The Trader's Song), Alabama Song, Moritat (Ballade von Mackie Messer) and Surabaya Johnny. Voiceprint reissued the album in 1999 with tracks chosen from both the English and German editions.
The band includes Jack Emblow on accordion, Richard Thompson on guitar and banjo, Danny Thompson on bass, John Harle on saxophones and Paul 'Wix' Wickens on synthesizer. John Dougan of AllMusic called it an amazing solo recording and said the stunning vocal ability of Krause would transport the listener. Many see it, with Tank Battles, as her best work.
