It was released as a single on 16 July 2001 and reached 26 in Britain, 31 in Ireland and 11 on the Billboard Triple-A chart. Marius de Vries is credited with additional production and Steve Sidelnyk with additional programming, and Pitchfork described de Vries as a collaborator of Bjork and Madonna. Remixes by Rae and Christian and by Biffco were added to the single formats, and a DVD single carried live footage from the concert video David Gray: Live. Gray later turned to de Vries to produce Life in Slow Motion. The Guardian remembered gap-year students mouthing its lyrics as they backpacked around Nepal.
