Protest and Survive

Track four of the debut album: two minutes seventeen, its title a turn on the government's Cold War leaflet.
Discharge, from Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing (1982)

"Protest and Survive" is the fourth song on the first side of Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing, released on May 21, 1982 on Clay and running 2:17. The writing credit on Anthrax's cover lists Kevin "Cal" Morris, Roy "Rainy" Wainwright, Garry Maloney and Tony "Bones" Roberts, and Mike Stone produced the album. The title plays on the British government's Cold War civil-defence leaflet "Protect and Survive"; E. P. Thompson's 1981 pamphlet Protest and Survive, a case for unilateral nuclear disarmament, is a separate work.

No comment from the band about this particular song was found; the album's lyrics are short, plain and anti-war. Anthrax recorded a version for Attack of the Killer B's (Megaforce and Island, June 25, 1991), running 2:20. Setlist.fm lists 665 shows for the band, but a count for this song was not retrieved. Our upload carries the title of the 1982 studio track, and which version it is was not confirmed.
