Once More

Their 1970 duet album of ten songs, including three by Parton and the hit "Daddy Was an Old Time Preacher Man".
Dolly Parton & Porter Wagoner, 1970

Once More was recorded in three sessions, on April 21, May 5 and May 6, 1970, at RCA Studio B, produced by Bob Ferguson with Al Pachucki as engineer. Pete Drake played pedal steel, Johnny Gimble and Mack Magaha fiddle, Hargus "Pig" Robbins piano, Jerry Carrigan drums, Dave Kirby guitar and Buck Trent banjo, with Dolores Edgin, June Evelyn Page, Joseph Babcock and Hurshel Wiginton on backing vocals. Parton wrote or co-wrote "Daddy Was an Old Time Preacher Man", "Fight and Scratch", "Ragged Angel" and "A Good Understanding".

It reached number seven on Billboard's country albums chart and 191 on the Billboard 200. Billboard called the vocal blend the key sales impetus on the LP, and Cash Box a powerhouse item all the way; AllMusic gave it two and a half stars. It was reissued in the 2014 Bear Family set, as a digital download on September 28, 2018, and by BGO in 2019 on two CDs with Two of a Kind, Together Always and The Right Combination * Burning the Midnight Oil.
