Parton first declined her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination because her background was in country, then said she would record a rock album to justify the honor. Rockstar, released on 17 November 2023, runs to thirty tracks. Guests include Ann Wilson, Rob Halford, Linda Perry, Miley Cyrus, and Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr on Let It Be. Chris Stapleton, whom she called her favorite collaborator, stepped in on Night Moves when Bob Seger could not take part.
It debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 with 128,000 units, the highest peak of any of her albums, and went to number one on the country and rock charts. It holds a Metacritic score of 65. Allison Hussey of Pitchfork wrote that it "sounds like the millennium's most expensive karaoke party." It is described as her forty-ninth and last studio album.
