Different Talking was released on Sub Pop on 27 June 2025, on LP, CD, cassette and digital formats. The band wrote, produced and recorded it in a house in upstate New York. Vanity came first, on 9 April 2025, with a video of the band recording the album, followed by Bitch Heart on 6 May and Pressed Flower on 4 June. Eli Crews mixed it, Josh Bonati mastered it, and Erica Newton added hand claps to Joyride.

Pitchfork's Marissa Lorusso scored it 7.5, wrote that the sessions took 40 days, and called it a tribute to holding your younger self with you as you grow. She noted that only two of its 17 songs pass two and a half minutes. AllMusic and Mojo each gave it four stars, and Paste scored it 6.8.
