Banks wrote the lyric: a burglar breaks into a house, finds it haunted, and is captured by ghosts who make him listen to their life stories forever. The title came from Collins singing home by the sea as a placeholder while Banks was writing. The band first played along to a drum machine, then re-recorded parts separately, Collins replacing the machine with real drums. It runs straight into Second Home by the Sea, assembled from two days of group improvisation that, Banks said, loosely represents the ghosts' former lives.

It was a single in some countries and reached four in New Zealand in 1986. It became a fixture of every tour from 1983 to the end in 2022, and its live video was filmed in Dallas in 1984. The upload in the hypersongs web is the album track without Second Home.
