Constellation's one-sheet said the album was made "in the midst of communal mess, raising dogs and children" and that "We recorded it all in a burning motorboat". It came with a list of "grand demands", among them an end to foreign invasion, an end to borders, the total dismantling of the prison-industrial complex, and healthcare, housing, food and water acknowledged as inalienable human rights. The inner sleeve says it was recorded in the winter of 2016 and 2017 at Hotel2Tango, and Greg Norman recorded it. Harris Newman mastered it at Greymarket. Bonnie Kane played saxophone, flute and electronics and Craig Pedersen played trumpet on the opening piece, "Undoing a Luciferian Towers". The vinyl came with a 24 by 24 inch fold-out poster.

Metacritic gives it 78. Paul Simpson gave it four stars at AllMusic and the A.V. Club gave it a B+. Sean T. Collins of Pitchfork called it "the band's most melodic and powerfully positive-sounding album to date".
