The title refers to the reported Palestinian deaths in the Gaza war between 7 October 2023 and 13 February 2024. The band's announcement asked what gestures make sense while tiny bodies fall, what context, and what broken melody. They premiered three new pieces at the Knockdown Center on 24 February 2024. The lead single, "Grey Rubble - Green Shoots", arrived with the announcement on 27 August 2024, engineered and mixed by Jace Lasek and mastered by Harris Newman. The album was recorded at Hotel2Tango in what the sleeve calls the winter of bombs. On vinyl a further untitled track closes side D. Michele Fiedler-Fuentes provides a voice on "Raindrops Cast in Lead".

Metacritic gives it 79. Slant gave it three stars out of five, and The Observer called it "powerfully brilliant". Stuart Berman of Pitchfork wrote that the music "sounds more defiantly exultant than ever".
