Service with a Smile
The 2:44 instrumental that opens Crafty Hands, credited to the drummer Ron Riddle and The Cars' keyboardist Greg Hawkes.
Happy the Man, from Crafty Hands (1978)
"Service with a Smile" opens Crafty Hands, 2:44 on Wikipedia and 2:42 on the 1989 compilation Retrospective, an instrumental credited to Riddle and Greg Hawkes, the keyboardist of The Cars; no source says how the two came to write it together. Riddle joined in late 1977 in place of Beck, and Whitaker credits him with making a big difference to the record. It was produced by Ken Scott in December 1977 and January 1978, and Echolocator says it incorporates the dramatic, heaving flourishes of arena rock. No chart history, video, covers, samples or setlist.fm count were found, and it is not known which version our upload is.
