The project grew out of a proposed television series about collaborations between musical genres. The series never happened, but Robin Guthrie and Simon Raymonde of Cocteau Twins contacted Budd anyway. He had not worked with pop musicians before. 4AD released the record on 10 November 1986 without the Cocteau Twins name, crediting Elizabeth Fraser, Guthrie, Raymonde and Budd individually. Four of its eight tracks carry Fraser's vocals, and Richard Thomas of Dif Juz adds saxophone. That month it spent a week at number 46 on the UK album chart. Raymonde later described it as a moment in time between friends enjoying making music together.
