"Could Heaven Ever Be Like This" was written by David Matthews and Tony Sarafino and is the opener of Turn This Mutha Out, 8:37. The track has Muhammad on drums and tom tom, Wilbur Bascomb on bass, Hiram Bullock on the guitar solo, Charlie Brown on guitar, Rubens Bassini and Sue Evans on percussion, Michael Brecker on the tenor saxophone solo, Ronnie Cuber on baritone, David Tofani on soprano, Clifford Carter on the synthesizer solo, Randy Brecker and Jon Faddis on trumpets, Margaret Ross on harp, Frank Floyd on the vocal solo and Bill Eaton, Zachary Sanders and Ray Simpson on backing vocals. No chart positions were found, and nothing about its lyrics in the musicians' own words.
Jamie xx's "Loud Places", with Romy, on In Colour (2015, Young Turks) samples the chorus; it reached 62. Jamie xx told Q it's the contrast between sadness and joy, and said Romy Madley Croft wrote the lyrics on a solo trip to Los Angeles: we tried this soul sample, and the lyrics worked perfectly. Lance Ferguson re-recorded it for Tru Thoughts on July 29, 2025, with a sax solo by Phil Noy, and Soul Providers, Chrome Sparks, Ta-Ku, Klashnekoff with Kool G Rap and Kyza, and Jamiroquai have also sampled it. A London tribute, the Idris Muhammad Songbook with Yussef Dayes and Kamaal Williams, was held in April 2016. We hold two uploads, one titled with the album, and it is not on Power of Soul.
