Jade Warrior

Their 1971 debut: ten songs, flutes and percussion without a drum kit, all written by the three members.
Jade Warrior, 1971

Jade Warrior's debut was self-produced and written by Duhig, Field and Havard; Wikipedia states neither studio nor recording dates. Field plays flutes and percussion, Duhig guitars and Havard bass and vocals, with no drum kit. Duhig said the band looped their own recorded voices to imitate a choir, which as far as he knew was the first time that had been done on record. AllMusic's Dave Thompson gave it four stars, while ProgArchives reviewers are mixed, one calling it disjointed and messy and another one of the more original sounding progressive rock albums of the era. Esoteric reissued it with a 16-page booklet and an essay by Steve Pilkington, mastered in 24-bit by Ben Wiseman.
