Masai Morning
The six-minute third track of the debut, a flute and percussion piece that turns into a heavy riff about a lion hunt.
Jade Warrior, from Jade Warrior (1971)
"Masai Morning" is track three of the 1971 debut, 6:43 on Wikipedia and 6:41 on the 2022 high-resolution remaster, credited to Duhig, Field and Havard. Listings describe it as a three-part suite, "Casting of the Bones", "The Hunt" and "A Ritual of Kings". Psychedelic Baby describes it opening with flute, conga and maraca, Field's percussion leading until a tempo change halfway when Duhig's fuzz guitar, Havard's bass and Field's flute pick up, with feedback and a build to a heavy riff, and lyrics about a lion hunting; Prog magazine imagines Jethro Tull in an African drum workshop.
It is not in the one setlist fetched, the 2008 Astoria 2 reunion, and setlist.fm shows no track lists for the other shows. No studio or recording date, chart history, covers or samples were found, nor anything from the band about the song.
