Inget nytt under solen

Their second album, whose title means Nothing New Under the Sun, led by a 21-minute five-part piece.
Kaipa, 1976

Inget nytt under solen was recorded from June to August 1976 at Marcus Music Studios in Solna and produced by the band and Leif Mases. Ingemar Bergman plays drums, temple blocks and rattle, Tomas Eriksson bass and synth-bass, Hans Lundin Hammond organ, piano, Fender Rhodes, Mellotron and synthesizers, and Roine Stolt electric and acoustic guitars. The opener, "Skenet bedrar", runs 21:41 in five parts. English-language vocals for four pieces were recorded later at Bastun Studio in Stockholm in October 1977 with Lars Hoflund singing, and appear on The Decca Years.

Lundin says it actually reached the Swedish charts for one week, which was definitely nothing they had expected, and a reviewer states that each of the first two albums sold about 10,000 copies in Sweden. Malcolm Dome in Prog called it a considerable improvement on the debut, and Planet Mellotron wrote that they go straight for the jugular with their only side-long piece. A remastered two-CD edition with the debut appeared on Tempus Fugit / SPV in 2015, timed to the 40th anniversary.
