"Icarus (Borne on Wings of Steel)" is the third track on Masque, 6:03, recorded at Studio in the Country in Bogalusa. The sleeve credits Livgren; the record label credit is Livgren and Walsh, and a weak source says BMI lists Livgren alone. Ultimate Classic Rock's Eduardo Rivadavia called it a rousing and evocative retelling of the Icarus myth and ranked it fifth among Kansas songs in 2013. The live version on Two for the Show runs 5:58.
It is the most played of the songs we hold after "Dust in the Wind": setlist.fm counts 690 performances, against 230 for a separate "Icarus II".
