"Asking for Flowers" is the third track on the album, 5:02, written by Edwards and produced by her and Jim Scott. She told Aquarium Drunkard in 2008 that she wrote it for a close friend who had struggled with physical and emotional problems, who described her life as asking for flowers; Edwards's point was compassion and giving people time without judgment. The friend added that someone should want to just bring them to you. She told The Coast that asking for flowers is also a turn of phrase, though she did think she might receive more flowers at shows. Drowned in Sound's Shain Shapiro called it depressing, yes, but also utterly hopeful in tone.
An exclusive version, 4:48, was an online bonus track, and which of the two our upload is, is unknown. Setlist.fm counts 201 performances. No chart history, video, covers or samples were found.
