Standing Knee Deep in a River (Dying of Thirst)

The second single from Lonesome Standard Time, a ballad about being grateful for what we have.
Kathy Mattea, from Lonesome Standard Time (1993)

"Standing Knee Deep in a River (Dying of Thirst)" was written by Bob McDill, Dickey Lee and Bucky Jones and produced by Brent Maher, released as the album's second single on January 23, 1993 on Mercury, with "Listen to the Radio" on the B-side; it runs 4:10 on the single page and 4:12 on the album listing. The Edmonton Journal's David Howell described it as a ballad with a theme of being grateful for what we have. It reached number 19 on the country chart and 24 in Canada, and setlist.fm shows it in 13 setlists.

Sammy Kershaw is listed with the song in 1993 on the album Haunted Heart, and Wikipedia categories tag it under Don Williams and Joe Cocker, but dates for those versions are unverified, so it is not known whether Mattea's was first. No video was documented, and which version our upload is was not examined.
