"Glowed Up" was written by Kevin Celestin and Brandon Paak Anderson and produced by Kaytranada. It was released as a single on April 7, 2016 and debuted that day on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show. It samples "Raindrops" by Bobby Heath, Eric Peters and Robert Hunter, and CBC described the opening synths as mimicking an alien arrival, though from a search summary only. A limited 12-inch with "Lite Spots" on the B-side was announced for late April.
The video, directed by Bo Mirosseni and posted the same day, was nominated for video of the year at the 2017 iHeartRadio MMVA; the director said the shoot was as surreal and dreamy as the video concept itself. Pitchfork named it Best New Track, with Marc Hogan hearing the two as right where they want to be, and Resident Advisor called it AM gold soul with Anderson .Paak's croaky refrains. Setlist.fm counts 22 performances. We found no single chart data, no statement by the artists about the lyrics, and no covers, and we could not tell which version our upload carries.
