Khruangbin wrote the music, Mark Speer and Laura Lee wrote the lyrics, and Steve Christensen recorded and mixed it. Lee also did the artwork and design. Will Van Horn plays pedal steel on six tracks, Charlie Perez adds percussion, Chase Jordan plays vibraphone on First Class and Dearest Alfred, and Cleo Sample plays Minimoog and Hammond organ. The singles were Time (You and I), So We Won't Forget and Pelota.
Pitchfork's Andy Cush called it the first album to prominently feature vocals, with all three members singing, and picked Pelota as the best track. He heard Roy Ayers' Everybody Loves the Sunshine in the opener First Class, but felt the album rarely did more than the band's own playlist generator. Slant's Sophia Ordaz wrote that it finds the band "coming into their own." Metacritic scores it 79. It reached No. 7 in the UK and No. 31 in the US.
