My World

The first record credited to the Expressions: eleven tracks, three of them instrumentals, with a cover of the Supremes' "My World Is Empty Without You".
Lee Fields & The Expressions, 2009

My World came out on Truth & Soul on June 2, 2009, the first album since Problems in 2002. Fields sings on eight of its eleven tracks, and the three instrumentals are "Expressions Theme", "These Moments" and "Last Ride". It includes a cover of the Supremes' "My World Is Empty Without You", and "Honey Dove", track three, returns in an extended version. We found no producer, studio or recording dates.

PopMatters's Alan Brown gave it 7 out of 10, Treble's Tyler Parks called it a sweet, sweet record and said Lee Fields is the real deal, no doubt about it, and Cokemachineglow's Chris Molnar called it arguably his best record yet. Pitchfork reviewed it too, though we only saw its wording second-hand.
