Lucky
The opening track of Lewis Taylor, a 1996 single reissued in 1997 with Kruder & Dorfmeister remixes.
Lewis Taylor, from Lewis Taylor (1996)
"Lucky" was written by Taylor and Sabina Smyth and opens the debut at 6:34. It was released as a single in 1996 and reissued in 1997 with remixes by Kruder & Dorfmeister, whose Suicide Mix and Reprise Mix both appear on The K&D Sessions and were reviewed as staples of the duo's live sets; the remixes are also on the bonus disc of the 2016 Caroline reissue. Record Collector names it as a standout on the album, with "Bittersweet", "Track", "Song" and "Damn".
Setlist.fm lists the song in the Bowery Ballroom set of January 26, 2006, at the Jazz Cafe in London on January 20 and 21, 2003, and at Noble Rot in London on October 2, 2002, but its display is truncated, so the total is not known. We found no recording date, studio, chart position or video, and no covers; the version of our upload was not checked, and is presumably the album or single version. PopMatters reported in 2005 that Taylor said Elton John performs the opening track of Stoned live, which concerns that album, not this song.
