"Parallelograms" is the sixth track on the album, 4:36, written by Perhacs. She has said it came to her late at night on the Ventura Freeway, and she sketched it as a scroll, a moving sound sculpture; it convinced Rosenman to record a full album. PopMatters in 2017 called it a multi-layered tone poem and the centerpiece, and she says Rosenman told her to stop and move to something more commercial if executives arrived. Four Tet used it as the tenth track on Late Night Tales in 2004. She played a free-form passage from it in Berlin in November 2013.
