Manning Fireworks was produced by Lenderman and Alex Farrar at Drop of Sun, with Greg Obis mastering; recording dates are not given. All nine songs are Lenderman's. He plays vocals, bass, drums, guitar and organ, Karly Hartzman sings on tracks 1, 4 to 7 and 9, Xandy Chelmis plays pedal steel on two tracks and Ethan Baechtold piano on one. The singles were "She's Leaving You" (June 24, 2024), "Joker Lips" (July 29) and "Wristwatch" (September 4).
Pitchfork's Jeremy D. Larson called it witty and sincere, the mark of a songwriter finding his voice. Rolling Stone's Jon Dolan called it an indie-rock gem, and Stereogum's Danielle Chelosky said it is one of the best albums of the year, noting that it is cleaner than Boat Songs and that his publicist declined to explain its many instrument credits. In the United States it reached number 15 on the folk chart and 48 on the independent chart.
