"Like Herod" is the second track on Young Team, 11:41 on the album page and 11:39 on the song page, written by Braithwaite, Aitchison, Cummings and Bulloch and produced and mixed by Paul Savage at MCM in Hamilton. It was originally titled "Slint", after the band, and Wikipedia does not explain the Herod title. A bass line opens it, a loud distorted section erupts at 2:57, a second noise section comes at 6:15 and it calms around 8:08; Wikipedia describes it as an extreme display of the band's quiet and loud dynamic method.

An 18:32 live version from a Steve Lamacq BBC Radio 1 session at Maida Vale, recorded in March 1999 by Wikipedia's account, is on Government Commissions: BBC Sessions 1996-2003 (February 21, 2005). It is also on Special Moves (10:38), in a 7:53 live version on the 2008 reissue, and remixed on Kicking a Dead Pig. Braithwaite has said it is his favorite song on Young Team, and told The Line of Best Fit in 2016 that with these two songs people maybe were not used to hearing that. Setlist.fm counts 371 performances, and it was used in the intro to PlayStation's Actua Ice Hockey 2.
