The Orange Juice
The third and final studio album, a near solo record by Edwyn Collins.
Orange Juice, 1984
- Released
- November 1984
- Label
- Polydor
- Producer
- Dennis Bovell
The third and last studio album came out on Polydor in November 1984 as OJHP 2. The title is a tribute to the Velvet Underground's eponymous third album. Dennis Bovell produced it, with Will Gosling and Phil Thornalley credited as producers on some tracks. Collins wrote every song and described it as more or less a solo album, saying Zeke Manyika was there for three days.
The cassette came with free 12-inch versions of several tracks, and most copies sold in that format. On tour Collins used to dedicate I Guess I'm Just a Little Too Sensitive to Morrissey. Tom Ewing of Pitchfork heard a muscle and poise on What Presence?! and Salmon Fishing in New York that the band's earlier work lacked.
