Released on 18 September 1989 as a 12-inch and a CD single, this was the first Pale Saints record on 4AD. Cooper, Masters and Naysmith made it as a trio. It opens with Sight of You, followed by She Rides the Waves and Mother Might, whose Toppermost writer says settles for atmosphere over melody. The EP reached number three on the UK independent chart and number 135 in the UK. Its songs were later gathered on the Japan-only compilation Mrs. Dolphin.

Sight of You and She Rides the Waves were first produced and recorded by Richard Formby and Mike Stout at Woodhouse Studios in Leeds in November and December 1988, with Gil Norton adding production and a remix. Norton produced Mother Might, and John Fryer engineered at Blackwing Studios, London, where the EP was finished in June 1989. The cover painting is by G. D. Bailey, with design by V23.
