The lyrics of Epizootics! merge early jazz slang with an idea about waking up from a Hawaiian nightmare. It was released with See You Don't Bump His Head as a two-track streaming preview on 7 November 2012, and a video directed by Olivier Groulx followed the next day.
Clash called it a lengthy, often surreal rumination, and NPR called it weirdly funky and recalled Fat Mama Kick from the Walker Brothers album Nite Flights. Pitchfork's Mike Powell counted it among the most immediate songs on the record. Hugh Burns plays ukulele and pedal steel guitar on it, and BJ Cole and Guy Barker also appear.
