It's Raining Today opens Scott 3 and is credited to Scott Engel, as are the other original songs on the album. The reviewer Mark Lager heard it as autumnal, gray, misty and overcast, with lyrics that resemble Leonard Cohen's from around the same time.
In September 2019 Thom Yorke named it one of the eight pieces of music he would take to an imaginary desert island on the BBC Radio 4 program Desert Island Discs.
