The Seventh Seal opens Scott 4 and is based on the 1957 film of the same name by Ingmar Bergman. The album was released under the name Scott Engel and failed to chart.
Retrospective critics responded to its scale. Mark Lager called it an Ennio Morriconesque epic and heard in the opening notes a singer pushing his lyrics and soundscapes into stronger terrain. Select's Ian Harrison picked out its barmy, fatalist sublimities.
