Somebody to Shove

Pirner wrote Somebody to Shove, the first single from Grave Dancers Union. It reached number one on the US Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart and number nine on the Album Rock Tracks chart. Zack Snyder directed the video, as he did the one for Black Gold. Robert Christgau named it, with Without a Trace, among the album's great tunes.

The UK CD single added unplugged versions of Somebody to Shove and Stranger and a live Without a Trace, and the UK 12-inch included live versions of Somebody to Shove and Runaway Train. An acoustic version appears on The Unplugged Collection, Volume One. Setlist.fm counts it as the band's most-played song, at 564 shows.
