Lazarus Man
Track two on Timepeace, a slow-building spiritual narrative on acoustic guitar.
Terry Callier, from Timepeace (1998)
MusicBrainz credits Callier as writer and lists it as track two of Timepeace, about 8:29, after the intro "Ride Suite Ride". Derek's Music Blog hears it begin with distant percussion and meandering guitar and build slowly, the voice moving from gentle to soaring, with lyrics spiritual in scope and biblical in reference; George Graham calls it acoustic-guitar-centered, with a half-spoken narrative vocal and an atmospheric mix. It also appears on Life Lessons (2006).
Live versions include a 9:27 take on the 2019 digital edition of Welcome Home and an 8:30 version on Live Peace (BBE, 2026), recorded in Leeds in 1998 and 2001 by the engineer Martin Dixon with Jim Mullen on guitar, Chris Kibble on keys and Bosco D'Oliveira on percussion. The recording date, personnel on the studio track, charts, covers and samples were not found.
