Fourth Drawer Down collects the A-sides and B-sides of the singles the Associates put out on Situation Two in 1981, produced by Mike Hedges and Flood. The title came from a drawer in the band's flat holding herbal sleep aids. NME's Richard Cook said they brutalize form with a purpose. In July 1981 Smash Hits reported that MacKenzie planned to release ten singles that year.
