Released on 22 November 2004 as the first single from Push the Button, with Q-Tip on vocals, and in the UK on 17 January 2005. It peaked at number 3 on the UK Singles Chart on 23 January 2005, their highest placing since Hey Boy Hey Girl, and reached number one in Greece and Spain. The track is built around a string sample from Najat Aatabou's 1992 song Hadi Kedba Bayna, and at one point it plays a sample from the duo's own Leave Home. The Pitchfork writer Scott Plagenhoef thought it and The Boxer hark back to the duo's early B-boy and techno days.
Adam Smith directed the video, shot in Malaga, Spain, in November 2004, in which three boys in clown face paint sneak into a club and enter a dance battle. Galvanize won the Grammy for Best Dance Recording in February 2006, and it ranked number 65 in Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2004. It was played in 203 of the 357 concerts that have a logged setlist.
