"Suicide" is the third track on Fighting, 5:12, written by Lynott. It was first performed with Eric Bell in the band, on a BBC broadcast recorded in July 1973 under the title "Baby's Been Messing", with different lyrics and without the middle section; that version is on the At the BBC collection. uDiscover says it was played extensively in the first phase, showcasing Bell's bluesy slide guitar, and was reworked tougher for Fighting, giving Robertson and Gorham an early chance to show off.

A live version recorded on November 21, 1975 at Derby College appears on UK Tour '75, released on September 8, 2008, and runs 5:07. Europe covered it on their 2008 live album Almost Unplugged. No comment from Lynott on the lyrics was found.
