Fighting was recorded in May 1975 at Olympic Studios in London with Lynott producing and Keith Harwood engineering and mixing. Roger Chapman sang backing vocals and Ian McLagan played piano on "Rosalie" and "Silver Dollar". The singles were "Rosalie" (June 27, 1975) and "Wild One" (October 17, 1975), and it reached number 60 in the United Kingdom, their first chart entry there. Geoff Barton wrote in Sounds that it was an adequate rock album, no more, while AllMusic's Stephen Thomas Erlewine called it a tense, coiled, vicious rock and roll album. A two-disc remastered edition came out on March 12, 2012.
